THE CORNER THAT STAYED

$1,100.00

A corner in Seattle, held in memory — not as it looked on any particular day, but as it accumulated over time. The stone building has been there long enough that the city has grown back around it. The trees are winning. The red windows stay lit.

This is a place that exists whether you return to it or not. A coffee shop at the intersection of two streets, two seasons, two kinds of permanence — the built and the grown. The work captures neither the interior nor the occasion. Only the corner. Only what stayed.

Reconstructed in thread from memory. Every stone course, every arch, every leaf rendered stitch by stitch through a process that is as slow and deliberate as the accumulation of the place itself.

Industrial machine embroidery on canvas. One of one. This work will not be repeated in its exact form.

Dimensions: 36.5X46 cm. | with teak wood frame

  • Include a clear and concise artist biography written in the third person, preferably no more than three paragraphs. In the first paragraph, you should mention your name, date, and place of birth, your current location, artistic discipline, medium, and what you are best known for. Try to write in an engaging, conversational style while sticking to the specifics of your art rather than resorting to vague, overblown statements. Avoid clichés and generic language at all times.

In the second paragraph, you can briefly discuss the subject matter of your art, perhaps illustrating it with some important series or projects you have realized so far. Make sure that you do not explain too much, or bombard the reader with information. Leave them longing for more while briefly explaining what your work is about, rather than telling your whole life story.

In the third and final paragraph, you can mention your education and recite the most notable information from your artist resume in the form of exhibitions, collections, grants, residencies, and more. Be concise and formal in this paragraph by reciting your accomplishments without flexing or showing off.
